Update: Removed pin-stripe border and cleaned up edges.
First and foremost, I cannot take credit for this particular concept. I've seen images similar to this floating around the web for quite some time. Most of them seem to use garlic or onion, so there aren't any leaves coming out of the eggs - just the shoots. Kudos goes to those who have tried this before!
I've never really liked eggplants - but I'm starting to.
This is my own take on the concept - there is more of an emphasis on a white background here. I felt that minimalism in the background was important given the nature of the egg - just a pure / white spherical surface. The shoot is from an umbrella plant, not too old and still a nice brilliant green when hit with lots of light.
For the background I used a single sheet of marker paper and shot at an angle. The light in the room was natural, but I used a bounced flash (increased by two stops) off of the ceiling to wash out any detail / shadows that had been cast. To hold the egg in place I used a bit of poster tack.
The white balance was set to 'Daylight' - the automatic setting was giving me tones that were a little too cold. Border and text added in Photoshop.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
